Markush Claim ¶
A claim that recites alternatives in a format such as "selected from the group consisting of A, B and C.” Inventions in metallurgy, refractories, ceramics, pharmacy, pharmacology and biology are most frequently claimed under the Markush formula but purely mechanical features or process steps may also be claimed by using the Markush style of claiming.
Markush Structure ¶
Complex chemical drawings representing generic (prophetic) substances. Each Markush structure may represent hundreds or thousands of chemical substances. Two online databases, Marpat and Markush DARC, index Markush structures from patents.
