Senior Scientific Officer
Your Responsibilities
- Leading the scientific program of the IRF in close cooperation and under the lead of the Chief Scientific Officer
- Develop and lead own research programs within the strategic direction of IRF
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the IRF´s strategy and business plan
- Motivate and lead a group of highly qualified information retrieval scientists
- Build strong partnerships with the IRF´s academic/industrial partners
- Undertake consultancy
- Effectively manage funded projects
- Attract funding, both public and industrial
- Lead, develop and motivate more junior members of staff
Your Profile
- PhD in computer science or closely related field
- Strong publication record
- Experience of taking a leading role in research projects and research funding proposal writing
- Demonstrated knowledge of Information Retrieval, Text Mining, Machine Learning Information, Visualization or a related area
- Experience in software development for parallel and/or distributed systems
- Potential to develop into a senior management position
- Experience of consultancy or potential to develop as a consultant
- Nice to have: knowledge of other European or Asian languages, fluent German
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with multi-cultural, multi-lingual, geographically dispersed user community (academic institutions, industry)
