Science meets Industry

For the first time in the intellectual property research domain, leading patent experts and information retrieval scientists met in Vienna to exchange ideas and experiences for benefits in applied research and the development of industrial applications. 

The main objective of the annual IRF Symposium was to sustain the development of standards, methods and solutions by bridging the gap between science and industry. The face-to-face interaction between information retrieval scientists and patent information professionals is the beginning of a continuous knowledge transfer for the benefit of both worlds and a sustainable innovation cycle. Interdisciplinary working groups, resulting from the Symposium, will ensure a continuous dialogue and development process.
